Homeless Veterans Program Seeks Volunteers

Homeless Veterans Program Seeks Volunteers

Veterans Grant Per Diem Transition in Place, a program of Catholic Charities Diocese of St. Petersburg in conjunction with Veterans affairs, is in need of volunteers. This program provides safe and affordable housing and case management to homeless veterans and their families. Our needs are:

• Drivers (always in agency vehicles) to take interested vets to food pantries every Friday morning.
• Drivers to take agency vehicle to the Food Bank every Tuesday morning, it gets loaded with food, then it is brought back and the food needs to be divided up into portions for each client.
• Drivers to transport clients to grocery stores, (Publix, Save-a-Lot, Walmart), Laundromats, etc. This would be a “drop off” process, then volunteer would go and pick them up after an hour or so. Most agency vans can hold 6 other passengers. If there is more than 6 who need to go, then trips will be staggered. These trips would be scheduled on a set weekly basis.

The office for this program is located at Pinellas Hope, but volunteers are needed in both Pinellas Hope and Pinellas Village in Largo. If you’re interested in volunteering, please contact Javier  at (727) 599-3986 or by email. Thank you for your contribution to help Catholic Charities and the Department of Veterans Affairs with their goal of reducing the numbers of homeless veterans.
